For years, pregnant Moms in north Pinellas County have had limited options about where to deliver their babies. Add to that the fact that most of the maternity wards in the county are located on the west side, despite more and more women of childbearing age living in the east part of the county, and it’s no surprise that Mease Countryside’s new maternity facilities are a welcome addition!

Mease Countryside’s new facility features top maternity and neonatal units as well as a recently remodeled pediatrics ward. According to Matt Novak, Director of Marketing, Planning, and Public Relations, the new Mease Countryside has “absolutely beautiful” rooms equipped with the latest technology. Each room is exquisitely decorated and designed so that women are able to remain in the room for their entire hospital stay. That means that labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum care can all be provided in the same lovely room. For those women requiring C-Sections, operating rooms, designated solely for this purpose, are also be located on the floor. There are even be water-birthing facilities!

In addition to the sumptuous new maternity and neonatal facility, the pediatric ward has undergone a recent renovation. According to Novak, “pediatrics is themed” with murals on the walls and a boat for the nurse’s station.

This all sounds like a great way to make kids (and Moms and Dads) feel more comfortable at the hospital.
