Parenting Checklists

Preschool Interview

Does the school use a developmentally appropriate approach?

Does the school seem to be a fit with your child's temperament and interests?

Are you comfortable with the school's style of instruction, its philosophy of nurturing children, and the practices it uses to achieve its goals? you can understand-what that means in the day-to-day workings of a class.

What is the teacher-to-child ratio?

Are the teachers well trained?

Are parents free to visit and observe classroom activity?

Is the school spacious, safe, clean, and up-to-date?

Are there plenty of age-appropriate materials?.

Is there time and room for daily physical play?

How does the school work with the family when a child has issues?

How are discipline problems handled when it comes to things like hitting or biting?

Ask about inclusion.

Look at the mix of kids in the classroom.

Ask about anything you observe that raises a red flag.
